New Magazine

I have a LLama 9mm, and have had it for about 15 years. I originally bought it for home defense, and have never had to use it. I have put about 1000 rounds through it at the beginning, and for the last 5 years or so its been loaded and kept in the bedroom. I have been reading that mags should be changed as often as every year, so I recently purchasd a new mag from Triple K and the mag seems identical as my original, but it fits very very tight. Is this something a gunsmith can take care of, or is there something I should do? IE grease/oil it, or sand it down? Any info would be greatly appreciated. :confused_m:

I can't answer that question directly, but I do wish to chime in with a related comment.

I have a magazine for my new mini-14 made by triple-k that doesn't fit at all (appears too big to fully lock - interference)... the other different-sized mag by triple-k fits ok... the bigger one is nickel plated...(the one that doesn't fit)

are there known issues with this brand of magazine perhaps? Seems like pastexperience and I may have related issues...

The quality of Triple-K mags is very low, I know I got burned by them years ago too. Lesson learned - look for mags made by the original manufacturer.

Thanks. I may have to go that route.

You could insert the mag and remove it a number of times and look for wear marks. Then, possibly, you could file/grind to relieve tight spots.

Sanding also works well - then refinish

I have a couple of Tec-9 mags that are tight as well and plan to do this.
